The latest salary information for federal government workers has been posted here. If you’re curious about the pay of EPA secretaries in Atlanta (they’re all women, by the way), you’ll find names and salaries for 2014. Or you can check out the salaries of VA doctors (look up “medical officers”) or the pay for that administrative law judge who decided grandma didn’t qualify for Social Security disability.
But if you want to find out how much your neighbor, the IRS agent, made last year, good luck. Employees’ salaries are listed, but not their names. The federal government withheld names of workers that might be vulnerable to harassment and names of others concerned about privacy rights. Names and salaries of other federal workers are withheld altogether.
Why is the information public? Here’s a good explainer.
